Power Generation

Thermal and combined-cycle generation — boilers, turbines, generators, transformers and the balance-of-plant equipment around them.

Power plant cooling towers at sunset
Industries

Power plant equipment is large, heavily welded and tested to prove it will run for decades under thermal cycling. Boilers, HRSGs, steam and gas turbines, generators and the transformers and switchgear around them are each inspected at the manufacturer, where a weld repair or a clearance correction is still cheap.

PSPP witnesses the hydrostatic, dimensional, electrical and performance tests specified for each item and verifies the ASME, IEC and client records before equipment leaves for the plant.

Challenges

HRSG and boiler complexity

Multi-module heat-recovery steam generators and utility boilers carry thousands of pressure-part welds that need staged inspection, not a single final check.

Rotating equipment tolerances

Turbine and generator clearances, balancing and alignment are set at the works and are hard to correct once the unit is assembled for shipment.

Electrical and I&C verification

Transformers, switchgear and control panels need factory acceptance and routine electrical tests witnessed before despatch.

Tight outage and delivery windows

Replacement and new-build equipment feeds fixed outage dates, so a late nonconformity carries an outsized schedule cost.

Our Solutions

Pressure-part inspection

Staged ASME-compliant inspection of boiler and HRSG pressure parts, including weld and hydrostatic test witnessing.

Rotating-equipment inspection

Dimensional, clearance and balancing verification for turbines, compressors and generators at the works.

Electrical FAT witnessing

Witness of transformer, switchgear and panel factory acceptance and routine tests.

Expediting

Progress monitoring on long-lead power equipment to hold the outage schedule.
